DoDo Sakura Limited Edition
Every life begins with its own spring.
BEFORE THE BLOSSOM
A flower begins long before it opens.
What makes it possible takes place out of sight.
DODO SAKURA curves around the first days of a life
and opens when light is welcome.
First comes shelter. Then, the blossom.
THE SAME RESPECT
For centuries, keyaki has passed through the hands of miyadaiku,
the master carpenters who restore Japan's temples and shrines.
In DODO SAKURA, that same keyaki is worked by hand in search of balance.
Not to define an object, but to understand its purpose.
Because the beginning of a life deserves the same respect.
SNOW AND WOOD
In the mountain villages of Japan, gasshō-zukuri houses gather
the whiteness of the snow and the warmth of the wood.
DODO SAKURA carries that meeting through its whole form.
Light travels the surface, the wood appears along the contours.
Wherever one stands, the creation is complete.
WHERE THE EMPERORS SLEPT
At the Kyoto Imperial Palace, the emperor's rooms
were surrounded by square lattices of wood.
Inside DODO SAKURA, that same order returns, quilted.
No sleep was ever worth more than this one.
dodo SAKURA
-
The silk of DODO SAKURA comes from the historic ateliers of Kyoto, where the craft passes from one generation to the next.
It was chosen not for the sheen it displays, but for the light it holds, the naturalness of its fall and the continuity of its touch.
The quilted interior is made from traditional Japanese wamen cotton, selected among the few that reach this tone on their own.

The mattress of DODO SAKURA forms part of a bespoke sleep system, developed exclusively around its form.
At its heart lies mawata, Japanese silk wadding. Cocoons are softened, opened, stretched and layered by hand, preserving a Japanese tradition of warmth without weight. Above it, layers of wamen cotton help maintain a fresh, balanced sleeping climate.
The removable cover is enriched with aloe vera from Okinawa, selected for the softness it brings to the surface.
Created for sleep that feels as natural as breathing.
-
Each DODO SAKURA is shaped by a master miyadaiku, with a kanna. The keyaki is brought to the point where it gives back its own light, and every line feels inevitable.
The wood is alive, and it will go on moving for generations, answering the seasons. Within the curved structure, Kevlar and carbon fibre contain that movement and preserve the form.
Each creation takes more than six hundred hours, shared among expert hands, with long periods of rest between stages. The curves are refined slowly under the artisan's palm, guided more by touch than by sight.
Made to stay, from one beginning to the next.
-
At SUOMMO, excellence is often found in the details that remain unseen. AQUALOGY was born from the belief that even the water used during the finishing stages deserves the same attention as every other element of a creation.
This natural water finishing philosophy brings together specialised application techniques, extended curing periods and meticulous preparation. Carefully selected water becomes part of the process, contributing to the consistency and refinement of every surface.
For DODO SAKURA, that water comes from a natural spring in Shirakami-Sanchi, in the Tōhoku region of northern Japan. There, beneath one of the country's last virgin beech forests, it follows its course before reaching the surface.
Chosen for its purity, it accompanies the finish layer by layer, with the long intervals each one requires.
The surface takes on the white of porcelain, with a clarity and depth of its own.

Eight was chosen for the way it is understood in Japan. In Japanese, the figure widens as it is written, opening downward like a fan, a form known as suehirogari.
What begins at a single point widens towards the future.
That same figure defines the edition. Each DODO SAKURA carries an engraved plaque, individually numbered from 1/8 to 8/8.
